Course Description:
Master the art of painting water and reflections in watercolor — from calm lakes and subtle ripples to wet streets and complex urban reflections. This course will help you understand how water behaves visually and how light, color, movement, and surrounding objects transform its surface.
We’ll explore still and moving water, reflections, ripples, highlights, wet surfaces, and atmospheric effects. You’ll learn how to simplify reflected objects, connect shapes, create convincing movement, and combine soft transitions with expressive dry-brush techniques.
Special attention will be given to light, perspective, color, and composition. We’ll study how reflections change depending on the environment and type of water, and how to organize complex subjects into clear stages — from the first tonal and color decisions to the final details.
Through lakes, boats, urban canals, rainy streets, and atmospheric landscapes, you’ll develop a confident approach to one of watercolor’s most fascinating subjects. The goal is not simply to copy reflections, but to understand their logic and use them as a powerful tool for creating light, depth, and atmosphere.
